The Book Project – an initiative to promote entrepreneurship and inspire Sri Lankan millennials
Given my current role at the World Economic Forum, passion for Sri Lanka and number of incredible Sri Lankan rising stars I have come across over the last two years, I took the decision to write a book and capture their stories to inspire Sri Lankan millennials and promote entrepreneurship.
This yet to be titled book will showcase a collection of insights from successful entrepreneurs and inspirational leaders with Sri Lankan roots based within the country or across the world. Profiling the stories of these entrepreneurs will encourage and empower Sri Lankan millennials to discover their passions, believe in their dreams, and maximize their potential. I also hope the book will further help create an environment of entrepreneurship and innovation, especially amongst the younger generation, to shape Sri Lanka’s success story.
Chapters will anchor on topics like Start-up, Business & Digital, Arts & Culture, Sports & Adventure, Tourism & Hospitality and others – providing insights into sectors where Sri Lanka has seen tremendous progress in recent years. Each chapter will profile 5 to 6 unique personalities, with diversity of pedigree, experience and outlook. These profiles will be selected by a panel of “Sri Lankan Experts” endorsing their respective industry peers through an online nomination process system.
The book will be published in English, with a version in Sinhala and Tamil (under the form of a text book) to be distributed in local schools across the island. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to a not for profit organization that supports young entrepreneurs through mentorship programmes in Sri Lanka.
